Katrina has 27 years of dedicated service to Sarasota County Schools. She received a Bachelors of Science and Masters of Arts in Specific Learning Disability from the University of South Florida (USF). She also holds an Education Specialist Degree from the University of Florida (UF). Katrina has served both as a classroom teacher delivering instruction to students with disabilities at all school levels and as a high school guidance counselor providing services that will promote a student’s academic, social and emotional development. Katrina also served as a Pupil Support Services Program Specialist assisting with the coordination and facilitation of the district’s K-12 counseling program, student volunteer program and post-secondary scholarship program. Currently, Katrina is the supervisor for Sarasota County Schools Office of School Choice and Charter Schools.
Katrina is married to James E. Ward, and they have 5 wonderful children, Jewelle, Judy, Jermaine, Jasmin and Jessika. She is a member of various organizations which includes the National Association of Charter School Authorizer and the Florida Association of Charter School Authorizers. Katrina is also a proud member of the Bradenton Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Katrina serves as the elected corresponding secretary for TeamUp Volunteer and Partnership Council.
