After proudly completing a four-year enlistment with the United States Air Force, John returned to his home state of Michigan where he attended night school at Wayne State University and graduated with a B.S. degree in Business Administration with a major in Industrial Relations. While in Michigan, the automobile capital of the world, John was drawn to utilizing his management degree with positions in the greater Detroit area dealing directly and indirectly with the automotive industry. John was employed with the Fisher Body Division of General Motors as a Labor Relations Representative then move on to Personal Manager for Carmet Carbide, a division of Allegheny Steel Corporation, and finished his career as Vice President of Operations for a major Michigan based glass corporation. John decided to move south to Sarasota where he has resided for the past 23 years. Not one to sit still for very long, John obtained his Realtor license and has assisted many happy clients in purchasing or selling their homes. John also keeps busy volunteering with Habitat for Humanity – building new homes, and renovating existing homes. He has also been involved in painting churches and homes in the Sarasota area, volunteering at Benderson Park, and at a Sarasota Elementary school tutoring reading for the last 13 years. World travel is another passion that John enjoys. To escape the Michigan winters for a few months each year John traveled extensively to Hawaii, the Caribbean and Mexico. Recently he has visited Costa Rica, Europe (multiple times), Peru (Machu Picchu), Ireland, and most recently to China and Tibet. John enjoys a close relationship with his three children and five grandchildren. As a recent member of the Volunteer Partnership Council, John looks forward to assisting in the fulfillment of the council’s goals.
